Tools you need

Even though this course will contain a lot of theory, it’s definitely not all about the theory! On the contrary, I’d strongly recommend you get to work and make some ice cream during the course. Every week contains exercises to help you actually put to practice what you learned in the theoretical sections. Once you do your homework, things will really start to become interesting.

The lab exercises aren’t mandatory, but recommended. To properly execute the exercises we recommend you have at least the following tools available:

  • Freezer space (-18°C / 0°F)
  • Spatulas, bowls, containers suitable for the freezer
  • Pots and a stovetop to cook ice cream bases
  • Electric mixer with whisk attachment (can be both hand held or a stand mixer model)
  • Regular kitchen tools such as spoons, plates, etc.
  • Optional: ice cream maker, some exercises need an ice cream maker, but there are plenty of options to do the course without one

To make it even more fun. Collect a few taste testers around so you can have others try your experiments. That way you can see whether they can notice the differences between the samples you made.

So, with all of that out of the way. Let’s get started!
